Steve Taylor's first film, Second Chance was almost a paint-by-numbers Evangelical movie, but it was good enough to be enjoyable--and I was eager to see more.
But to follow it up with Donald Miller's Blue Like Jazz? Ugh.
First time since my initial exposure to Steve that I'm not eagerly anticipating, nay, am dreading, his next project.

A quick grumble

It will probably be rated R too :-/
Honestly torn on how to respond to this...too many options, off the top of my head:
1. I could say, "If it is R, it might keep away those who aren't that grounded and could be influenced by Miller."
2. I could ask, "Who cares what label an independent, secretive industry group puts on a movie using moveable, arbitrary standards (that are apparently easily influenced by studios as well) that pay no heed to the intent or message of the work?"
3. I could note the irony of sooo many Evangelicals (not necc., you, Marie) worried about the affect "Hollywood" has on culture, but who will determine what they'll watch based on a rating given by "Hollywood" to its own products.
hmmm, choices, choices, choices...
