Anyone out there read/had their kids read The Spiderwick Chronicles? Been wondering about them for awhile, the Library never has a copy in stock, and I just cannot bring myself to spend $11 on a book that measures 6.8" x 4.7" x 0.8" without a good idea if it's worth it (yet one more reason I won't buy a Bruce Wilkinson book, tho am pretty sure of the worth of those).

They're more than just $11. The original series is 5 volumes long, but it's really one book split up into 5 volumes, so it's approx $60 to buy the book. (Clever marketing to get one to pay a ton more than one normally would for a book.)
Having said that, they're fun books. My kids love 'em so much that I almost daily will find one of the volumes sitting around somewhere. And there's a new 3-volume series in the process of being published.
It might be cheaper to see the movie when it comes out in a week or so.
