Just got back from Iron Man

no time/inclination to say much right now, been one of those days.

In brief, this movie rocked. Good summer flick, good action flick, great comic book flick. Don't think I have one real complaint...maybe a quibble or two, but that's for another time.

In honor of the director, let me rephrase that brief statement: it was so money, baby.

Must.See.

And if you have any comic geekitude in you at all--stay til after the credits.

We went. I had almost no expectations other than a good review I read, but I was disappointed. Downey was the best part, and since he's the lead, that helped.

Micah's comment reposted without the spoiler in the last line (which clearly shows he could've read my line closer :) )

i loved it, got what i expected and enjoyed it. I was impressed by Jeff Bridges, Downey and Paltrow, the carried out a great deal of believable character development in a short time. One apparent plot hole, why did the terrorist-types need Stark to build them the missile system if they could just buy it from Bridge's character. Of course, my wife points out, they were being used by the guy to kill Stark, and so they felt double-crossed (and were). Apparently the translated video that Pepper watches explains that but I missed something there. I bet there's 10mins or so on the cutting room floor that might clarify.

Micah--Here's how I took that seeming hole...SPOILER WARNING

Stane bought the services of that band of petty thugs with S.I. weapons for that hit. The thugs find out it's "the prince" and get him to build the Jericho 1. out of vanity/pride at getting screwed, and B. because it's a lot cheaper to feed and house Stark than it is to buy an uber-missle.

But now there's more of a relationship between Stane and the thugs (and some blackmail material on him, to boot)...so they buy more weapons in general from S.I. and, in particular, the Jericho.

I'm not sure if that made as much sense on the screen as it does in my head.

I'll go ahead and add that Peter David is one of my favorite writers, and one of the best tie-in/novelization guys around--and he wrote the novelization for this one. So I'll probably be picking it up soon, and may have a better take on that then...

GF--why were you disappointed? Was it any one/few things in particular? Or just a general malaise?

Oh, and one addition to my list... C. impatience--Jericho was at the initial rollout phase there...why wait to buy something when you can have it made now?
